Q: Hi, do you go tutor? If so what subjects? Was it any useful? (Any recommendations?)- I don't go tutor anymore but I went for 2-3 terms but I half-assed it
- I signed up for 'The Brain' and went for 3U maths, 2U maths and English but I only ended up going to 'most' of the English classes and not attend maths? 2U maths was good because the teacher taught well but we finished the syllabus quite early so I didn't attend the last 1.5 terms. 3U at The Brain is basically a talking Cambridge textbook. They print you out the chapter, the tutor copies examples from the book and just yeah... I felt like it was a waste of money because (the class was like ahead because of 4u students/students who have attended for years) I didn't understand most things and I could read the textbook myself at home for free... So yeah I basically didn't even go 3U classes
- I attended English because the teacher was good and the notes were great too. Kind of regretting the fact that I didn't send my essays in to the tutor (because I always write essays night before exam and that would be too late to send in) so yeah... English is good at The Brain
- It's useful depending on the subjects you choose/what teacher you get? Man you really shouldn't ask me because I basically went to tutor for half a year and only for English/half 2U maths so I can't really say if it was useful or not LOL but all I know is that 3U at The Brain is a bit.. yeah they could have done better
- I actually tried private tutor for maths and I didn't like it (so I won't recommend you it but some people like it 1 on 1). It was really pressuring because it's just you in the room and if the tutor gives you a question they have all the time in the world to waste just waiting for you to solve it and in the end urgh I don't even know man
- Also tried English private tutoring with the head teacher of Sydney Girls but that was more focused on technique rather than content (like instead of giving out notes she would help me improve on what I was weak at) but she lived in Redfern and getting there was inconvenient/scary (everyone stares at you) and I finished in the evening (making me feel extremely uncomfortable). Therefore, I stopped after 3 lessons.
- Maths for two hours was $95 I think and English for one hour was $85 so either way really pricey and The Brain was three subjects for $100 (but that rose recently) so yeah... choose wisely
- SIGI's good at science related subjects? But for maths I'm not sure because I was first told that SIGI was pretty shit and then two months later the person was like 'yeah it's pretty good' and then yeah idk I was conflicted with these perspectives ya noe (mod c ftw)
- The Brain seems good for English because they have so many resources
- Talent 100 seems to be good for maths? Especially 4U
- Matrix is pricey (that's all I know LOL)
- Harry's is good for maths too
- Then the infamous Dr Du
