grasp all, lose all

Not recent photos (before the mid semester break HAHA) but yeah since I've been slacking off quite a bit I have decided to make it up by starting from the beginning. Don't remember dates so this is just going to be recapping bits and pieces throughout the weeks

Every time I go Hurstville, I visit the pet shop. How adorable is the puppy?!

Colonnade lunch - fettucine boscaiola as usual

And Dan's pineapple, chicken and cheese toast. I think the only thing I dislike about Colonnade is their service... for a cafe it's very meh and especially with the self service water business... like I don't mind getting up and grabbing my own water but for a cafe where things aren't exactly cheap, water service should be expected LOL And regardless of how busy you are, sparing 5 seconds should be no issue. I've worked in fast food industries where shit becomes insanely crazy yet whenever someone asks for a cup of water, sparing a few seconds of your time isn't impossible. Pretty sure we've all been to McDonald's at one point in our lives and ask for a cup of free water LOL and despite how busy it is, they still manage to deliver so.... no excuses Colonnade.

Melissa's birthday! Unlimited tacos once again at Contrabando (was so keen to go again) and they changed their menu which meant the addition of popcorn prawn holy. Favourites were definitely the popcorn prawn and the fish, but since we weren't with Andrew and Julie, we couldn't feast like pigs crey. There were two tables, split into a Caringbah table and a co-op table and Dan and I ended up with the co-ops which was actually not as awkard as I thought it'd be (socially awkward turtle here). Sally also showed up and I'm not used to seeing people at work at social events hehe but was a bonus! Great night, great food, great people - thank you Mel!

Midnight supper in China town

Brother was heading off to Shanghai the morning after and at 11pm he sent me a text wondering if mum and I would want to come out to have yum cha. Turns out the restaurant was supposed to have midnight yum cha but for some reason they didn't and we settled for normal dishes. Congee is love, congee is life. Mum's thousand egg congee with minced pork has been an absolute favourite, I usually devour a pot by myself (not even joking) but this was pretty bland so I didn't really get the chance to enjoy it as I thought I would.

All I remember was that the beef was extremely tender and the noodles were delicious

Brother and I raced to finish this, I don't remember what this was (排骨)but the batter was amazeballs

Kate's pho! She ended up finishing all the noodles but left so much of the meat and I'm just sitting here like omg wtf, leave the noodles, not the meat!

Friday evening, after work with Kate. She was locked out until 8pm and she was going to stay at the tutoring centre until then. HSC was also coming up and understanding her struggles, asked if she wanted to dine out instead since I finished at 7 and I felt like having a talk with her would help her out a bit. Ended up walking up and down Burwood because we were so indecisive on what to get but then Kate recommended Mint (she lives in Burwood and she's eaten at every restaurant pretty much LOL) so off we went to eat pho.

Place was extremely full but we were lucky because they had one table remaining by the door. Speaking of the door, it was a pretty cool one(?) Like I don't remember how it worked but we didn't have to pull/push for it to open, there was some other tech-savvy method. Damn you poor memory.

My pho! Definitely coming back here again, even told Dan to trek it to Burwood one day and eat here after I fnish work hehe. The soup was to die for, thank the lord for MSG. Portions weren't stingy and it was also very affordable... thought Mint would be a bit more expensive because the place was really neat and modern but turns out I was wrong hehe

Kate also got me a chai milk tea while I worked away - best student ever hehe ^_______^ It was pretty funny because I had to write what I wanted on her hand and she was already getting Nat a drink so her hand space was so minimal and I ended up writing all across her arm LOL Chloe (the kid I was teaching) couldn't stop laughing for some reason

Pork roll from Hong Ha!

Can I just say, that this is the best pork roll ever. We've all had King's hot bread and rolls from other places and pretty sure everyone's pro-King's hot bread (me inclusive) but holy shit, I found something even better. Saturday lunch at work is either Oleg's/thai food or Hong Ha. The line for Hong Ha is always extremely long (according to those who are on lunch buying duty hehe), like it goes down the street. King's hot bread goes out the store, but this one goes even further... must be saying something! And it's also $5, normal pork roll rates in this century and during the week, I actually crave this - I will legit look forward to work because I get to have Hong Ha LOL. There's also a bus from uni that gets to the street where the store is located so one day, I aim to trek to Mascot just to have this for lunch. Definitely give this a try guys.

Also been noted that I swear quite a lot... I know I'm more 'boyish' than most girls and quite vulgar but yeah.... going to try to change that for my own good LOL oops
