Still 2 weeks left until actual freedom, damn you JLPT! Sometimes I wish that the test would be sooner just so I could get it over and done with (and not have to worry about it every single day) but then I know I'd be screwed because 0 preparation has been done... why is it also $90 sigh.

Let's start recapping!

Today felt like a drag, had to wake up at 6:30 in the morning just to head to work (I was even super early today!) yet I still arrived 10 minutes late because I headed to Town Hall station instead of Central and there was trackwork. Missed the train by a split second and couldn't even get hash browns this morning because Wiwi was working and yeah it'd be so awkward lol (she was my past manager). But overall, I hate Sunday mornings because I'm always extremely sleepy and I'm just not in the mood to deal with kids.

Got back to the city at 1, napped at home until 4 and then headed to Max's at 4:30. Was a bit early so I chilled outside the apartment (it has a really nice waterview but it got cut off in the picture oops). Getting along/feeling comfortable was a bit difficult for me as he was a teenage Caucasian boy and for me, that's the hardest demographic to relate to LOL but I feel like I've finally gotten over the discomfort and we've been quite chill around each other with constant jokes and conversations filled with sarcasm.

But then there are some kids who are just loveable! Cameron is the sweetest kid ever, (I have him tomorrow yay!) and I am also his favourite tutor so hehehe. Last week was one of the first times I've had him since forever as I don't work on Mondays but since it's holidays, I need to rack in the money so my availability is pretty full on. Getting back to the point, he suddenly questioned about me being his older sibling etc; and despite it sounding a bit weird, the thought that he would want me as family was very heartwarming hehe.

Tuesday 11th
Study date with Dan and surprise visit from Lisa and Jane!

Spent the morning at State Library then decided to go for an Officeworks run to buy highlighters (I was becoming increasingly pissed at my Uniball highlighter even though I thought I'd love it) but that turned into a stationery and lunch run. Went to Ton Ton's in Chifley Square which definitely brought back memories of high school excursions to the Japanese Foundation and buying a rice ball at that exact restaurant.

Dan really liked their karaage so he fulfilled his cravings (plus an extra onigiri!) while I settled for Ton Ton ramen which wasn't that great. I personally prefer a rich tonkatsu broth and this wasn't what I had expected/hoped it to be which was quite a let down :( It also cost around $10 (which is more expensive than my usual ramen purchases) so I was hoping to get a lot more out of it.

We then headed back to the library and while talking to Dan, I saw two figures lurking behind... Lisa and Jane! Turns out that they had also been studying from the morning and we decided to all study together at the 'quiet table'... which Jane used a permanent marker and blacked out the 'e', changing it to 'quit table' HAHA This portrayed everyone's exam feels very well. Was going to post it on twitter but for some reason it failed so I gave up.

Lisa's pasta! Despite not wanting to have anything creamy (this was very yum)

Stayed until 7:30pm, Jane and Dan got restless because they just ceebed studying so hard... so we headed to Takeru for dinner! One thing I realised is that old people really like finding facts about their family tree and history. While sitting at the tables near the family research area, all day long, in and out, were old people going through old newspapers, using ancestory.com and basically questioning the librarians every two seconds about their leads and findings about their family and how they can utilise this information to actually find family members. I questioned Dan if we would end up like that in the future but being Asians, he replied with a 'we'll be playing mah jong instead'.

Dan's ox tongue curry - he didn't find the curry that great but the ox tongue was pretty thick (aye)

My chicken nambam!

Ultimate dilemma when choosing between this and a spicy fried squid dish but being the pussy I am, (I can't really take a lot of chili and the menu for the squid dish had 'hot and spicy' written all over it) so I stayed safe and ordered my usual.

Jane on the other hand ordered the spicy sashimi don and being the chili-tolerant person she is, she still died. I also decided to give it a try and holy... thank fuck for not ordering the spicy squid. Ended our meal dreadfully as we were all stuffed and moving seemed like an impossible task. However, we did manage to make it to the station later on!

Wednesday 12th - Happy 8 months!

Dan's tonkatsu don

Dan had his BGDA (I think) exam and came over after he finished... with an amazing surprise. Still can't get over how pretty it is, will take photos later hehe. Since I had marketing the day after, we couldn't really do much so we headed down to Sushi Club for lunch! In the end it's the company that matters, not what you actually end up doing :)

Feeling a bit different, I only ordered half of my usual Mari roll (grilled salmon) and decided to be a daredevil and order another half of a soft shell crab roll. I didn't end up liking it that much, I rather prefer ordering the soft shell crab by itself (which is what I usually do for a late study snack) but yeah... learnt my lesson!

Presentation for the soft shell crab roll was like 5/10 lol, also hating the loose rice. Eating sushi with rice falling apart is probably one of the most cockblocking feelings. Like seriously guys, how hard is it to wrap the roll a little harder when you're rolling it with the bamboo mat? :(

Since the portions were quite small, I asked Dan if he could go on a Macca's run for me while I stayed home and crammed as much as I could (which didn't really work out)

Came back with 20 of these beauties, I think I was probably the happiest kid on Earth at that moment. Even though celebrating monthly 'anniversaries' usually means a special day out, as time goes on, you know that's not necessarily true. Every day should be a special day, not just these milestones. I could spend a regular day with him doing nothing and I'd be more than grateful and extremely happy. Couldn't ask for more. Also because Dan and I tend to do fancy things when it's not our month-iversaries HAHA so it's not unusual to not do anything fancy when it actually is? Does that even make sense huehue
