double dates!
29.12.14
The weekend was a blur - Glebe Markets on Saturday was quite the experience (despite it being the 27th and the constant fear that no one's going to come out of the house because it's Christmas family time, but crowds happened anyway!) and then Sunday was basically a spontaneous double date with Andrew and Julie at Dan's house. It was meant to be a day dedicated to going to the beach with everyone else but apparently the weather forecast predicted showers. Hence, it was moved to Monday but Dan and I had work so we decided to make it up with a double date.

Mahjong session!

I rocked up late so the three of them came to pick me up at Riverwood station and the first thing I notice when I step into the car - none of them were wearing shoes LOL I just felt like that was a thing to point out because it was quite questionable (i.e. next level peasant). Turns out they were just all ceebs with shoes. Started the day with mah jong and during the first few rounds, I actually did not win a single round at all. By the end of the day, I had only won 3 times but I reeled in $1.20 hehe (we had a $10 start). Andrew also needed a cheat sheet because he doesn't recognise half of the chinese numbers and we all knew he was the 'wan' suit whenever he resorted to the cheat sheet LOL

Dan then had a sudden urge to play the limited edition Pokemon Monopoly Andrew had brought. Even though this isn't my first time playing with this board, I still can't get over the fact that Andrew's mum laminated all the money. Yes, every single one of them.

Dan had a never-ending good luck streak with the chance cards, he kept on reeling in the money whereas I was sent to jail twice within the first ten minutes LOL We played the version where we weren't allow to buy properties in the first round, and by the time I had finally passed go for the first time, Dan and Andrew had probably been around the board 50 times already. Despite Dan's luck, Andrew ended up winning in the end.

Then we had Pancakes on the Rocks for dinner (but at Beverly Hills ofc). Ricardo also decided to join us and then the feast began! While waiting, we tried to brainstorm a few games we could play to kill time and we ended up playing the syllable/letter ending game. To put it simply, we had to think of a word which started with the ending letter of the previous word and there was a two syllable limit. Andrew and Dan decided to be faggots and ended their word with the letter x (and by that time, I pretty much used up everything we know starting with the letter x). Turns out that learning med from Dan in the past year wasn't useless at all because I REMEMBERED THAT XYPHOID PROCESS OF THE STERNUM STARTED WITH THE LETTER 'X', NOT 'Z'.

I think the med boys were pretty damn proud of me hehe

Shared a chicken and mushroom crepe and beef ribs with Dan, Andrew said we made a rookie mistake because we should've ordered the pork ribs. I beg to differ, because there's minimal meat on the pork ribs and it's just so anal to spend so much time and effort chewing the meat off the bones.

Andrew and Julie shared the tandoori chicken pizza (which I would've gotten too but Dan doesn't like it crey) and they also chose the chicken and mushroom crepe. Ricardo ended up with a steak which looked pretty appetizing.

We devoured our meal in less than 10 minutes (not even joking) and half an hour later, Andrew and Julie were still trying to finish their share. It reminded us of the time we all went to Contrabando and inhaled all our tacos quickly but Julie was struggling so we all had to wait for her haha.

Then we all shared a regular stack of pancakes! I'm not a fan of the pancakes with 300 toppings of them and Dan also felt like something simple so we ordered 3 and shared it between 5 people. We also ordered water three times but it came after we finished our main courses (which I yearned for water because the rib sauce was just too much). Please up your game Pancakes on the Rocks.

Headed back to Dan's place and we finally played Settlers. All three of them cockblocked me so I couldn't build shit anywhere but I ended up with 8 victory points anyway because all three of my thingo cards were knights, so that was an extra +2 VPs! Dan won with 11 VPs and he was so so keen for another game but by the time we had finished, it was already 11pm and the two kids who lived up north had to head home (since it's nearly a one hour drive back up)

10 minutes of silence for those who had to organise the beach event for the next day. It was so intense that we literally had to pause the game and give them time to sort everything out. Not sure why they didn't just create a Facebook event, silly Andrew. Extremely glad that we planned another board game day at Andrew's because it was extremely fun and I have always enjoyed board games but never had the friends who enjoyed it as much as I did crey.
