Woke up at 8 to tutor Max, rushed home to get ready and off I went to Circular Quay. Max's parents were very sweet - even though I hadn't been tutoring Max for long, they still gave me a Christmas present! Speaking of Christmas presents, I am in love with the Dusk candle my secret Santa gave to me. I guess it's one of those things where it's too pretty/smells too good to use (so you end up preserving it and nek minnut just becomes a dusk collector on your table)
On the 443, I decided to take a good glance at my brother's work place and holy shit NAB's Christmas tree is so beautiful. I'm usually the type who's not hyped about this whole festive spirit so when trees go up in Westfield I'm just like 'meh' but holy shit that tree was on point. Reminded me of 'A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas' where they tried to find and eventually steal the perfect Christmas tree.
This guy was pretty cool
Then jet boating happened! I booked with vouchers I had bought from Gumtree and I was actually pretty keen for this the entire time as I never got the chance to jet boat when I was younger (I think there was a height regulation). However, as the time neared I became increasingly anxious and Dan kept trying to reassure me that there was no reason to be scared (which didn't really work LOL)
We did a few spins which was pretty fun because everyone got soaked after each turn but the sudden braking (forgot what it was called) was quite boring. I thought the boat would tip forward or something but nothing really happened, we were just being sprayed by gushes of water. The experience was less scary than I thought it'd be, but the weather was really nice so everything was extremely chill and refreshing. Got off the boat drenched from head to toe but that didn't stop us from going shopping all wet.
Headed to Grill'd for lunch since I brought my entertainment book and there was a voucher for a free complimentary main item. I technically finally lost my Grill'd-ginity because I always found it very expensive so I'd always walk pass and not consider it as a restaurant choice.
I ordered 'Simon Says' and Dan ordered one of their beef burgers
Simon Says
Decided to order extra chips and much sauce - we originally went for herb mayo but since I am such a sauce enthusiast (i.e. will use a lot of sauce for one chip) I went to buy an extra serving of sweet chili mayo. 70 cents well spent because that one tiny container of herb mayo would not have been sufficient enough for both of us.
Dan's burger was so much nicer sigh. The grilled chicken was a bit hard to bite on at first but the burger was generally okay overall? I guess it's one of those things that you wouldn't order again.
We then went to scavenge for Dan's Politix shirt which we found, but being the self-acclaimed perfectionist he is, there were tiny things which put him off (collar too thick, shirt see through). Hence, we did not buy anything zzz. Visited all our usual stores and went back to Burberry to refeel each scarf and try to decide which one we wanted since Dan kept changing. We attempted 'Mission Booton' and it was also extremely awkward/embarrassing because the same guy who served us was also there (and we recalled that he didn't work on Mondays so we deliberately went to visit but I guess that was just a one off thing). He even said hello from across the room LOL
This reminded me of the Christmas last year where Swine Flu Chicken went around the city and we eventually ended up at the tree. I remember how we all tried to send text messages so that our desired messages would be displayed on the tree and that became extremely nostalgic when I tried to text another message today - My phone had died on me so I have been using my old phone in the past few days and when I tried to text to the number, my text requests for a message on the tree from last year also popped up. Not sure why but it was "WE LOVE YOU JISOO" HAHA
We then went to Martin Place because I wanted to see the field of flowers. One thing I don't understand is why people would take selfies/tourist shots in front of the entire layout. Personally, I find that quite rude but maybe that's just me. Ended the day at Tiffany and Co which was bustling with people so we didn't stay for long. Despite being salty all over for the entire day and walking for ages (and not ending up buying anything) it was still very enjoyable. Extremely grateful that Dan came along even though he wanted to do otherwise.
