Happy 19th Daniel! ♡
18.1.15
Started the day off with 2 hour train rides, dropping all the things we needed off at Pymble and then back to Burwood for work. The train ride seemed endless but I guess in the end it's better to carry around a backpack than 3 massive bagfuls of food and presents.

Ordered a 4 portion watermelon cake since everyone knows that you can never go wrong with this! Also because we're all picky with cakes/not a very big fan of cakes in general (and this was a very safe bet). Met with Andrew at Burwood then headed to Chatswood to pick up Julie. Had a great talk with Andrew about *ahem* and I feel like nothing will ever be awkward between us anymore LOL

Such beauty

This macaron mix was meant to be beat for 4 minutes (I think) or until it got stiff... took us 26 minutes fml. Made tempura prawn rolls (which we all wanted to devour the prawns when it came out fresh) and teriyaki chicken sushi (which was to die for holy shit). Chopped up two containers full of honeydew and watermelon and stacked the esky with ice and drinks hehe. After a steak dinner and hours of making food, Julie and I decided to watch the trailer of Human Centipede (which I had partially watched back in year 9/10) and holy shit I don't know why but I found it extremely scary this time round. There was this extremely suspenseful moment and suddenly Andrew appeared behind us at the door out of no where and Julie and I probably pissed ourselves a little.

These two toys which I got Andrew but now kinda regret because I want them for myself :(

My two buddies and reading Shaun Tan's Arrival as a bedtime story (kinda). This was actually pretty cool because earlier at work, I was actually analysing this book with Mat as a additional material for discovery and then bam! turned into a night read before bed.

Sleeping at 1am, we then had a 6am wake up call to travel down south and surprise Dan for his birthday!

Quick two minute nap waiting for Dan's mum to pick up her phone.

The moment we opened the door Dan was basically half naked and we all couldn't help laughing because the only thing his blanket didn't cover was literally the lower half of his body.

Off to Chowder Bay for a picnic and kayaking!

The penguin which I named llama, and the previous llama toy which I named duck (reference to the llama song which I was surprised when no one knew of it? it was probably the national anthem for me throughout high school LOL) On the way to Mosman my kayaking surprise was ruined because I received a call from the company telling me that it had to be postponed to 12:30 instead of 10:30 because it was extremely windy... and my phone was on speaker the entire time fml

Present time!

The lack of open eyes in this photo was astounding HAHA

Brunch!

I guess we were lucky because it was forecasted to rain today but it turned out to be extremely sunny (a bit too sunny if anything) and that meant an overload of sunscreen. By overload, I mean layering ourselves 40 times before heading out to kayaking. Andrew was so paranoid about getting sunburnt to the extent that he changed skin colour (50 shades lighter) after applying sun block.

At Dan's request, after kayaking we all jumped off from the bridge and into the (extremely) salty waters.

"Are we going to die"
"Yes"

Let the kayaking begin!

We were also warned not to row towards the left as it was a marine army base fueling station and they will actually shoot us and mistake us as bad people. They basically did not like visitors at all.

Kayaking was actually extremely fun and refreshing - You'd think that you'd be baked under the sun but the constant ocean sprays and breezes made everything 100x better. Paddling was also so much fun after I got the hang of it (something I imagined that would never happen) and in retrospect, I will definitely do this again hehe

We paddled all the way to Circular Quay!

So much effort was put in trying to get a photo with the Harbour Bridge as the backdrop LOL

Dan also stood on the kayak! (which was extremely nerve wrecking as I thought we were going to capsize)

From our 2 hour session, we probably spent 40 minutes catching jellyfish. At first we all thought that we would be stung but we didn't end up with any injuries? They were literally just a slimy blob and omg when they bobbed up and down in the water, they were too cute. The birthday boy then caught a few jelly fish and put it into Andrew's big ass bottle. Sadly we had to let them go after gazing at them like kids :(

Never seen so many jelly fish all huddled in one place.

After kayaking we all decided to jump off the opposite side of this photo and I'm glad that I don't have to do it ever again (I thought I was going to die). The rest seemed to enjoy it though, Dan kept going in trying to touch the bottom of the ocean floor despite being blind.

Feasted on the remnants from lunch as we were starving and then we drove Dan back home. Andrew was on the brink of death as he was beyond tired and had been driving for the entire morning. I stayed for dinner at Hurricane's and a short walk along Brighton Le Sands (Ricardo wanted to visit the beach and coincidentally so did I!)

Trained it back home and never have I ever felt so tired in my life before, I legit thought that I wasn't going to make it back home because my eyes kept dying on me and if I were a battery, I was probably on 2%. Despite all the hard work, it was all worth it in the end as we all had a very enjoyable day hehe. Once again, happy birthday Dandan, you're finally nine years old!
