Beauty shots
"Look at how many cups I can fit into the showercap!"
Before our scavenger hunt for takeaway containers. We had two hours to kill before Garden Buffet opened (5:30pm) so we played many rounds of Big 2 and we also went to visit the gym (despite having no appropriate shoes and in Leilei's case, no appropriate clothing either). On the way back up, two ladies joined our elevator and commented on how fit we were for going to the gym. Not sure what kind of gym session we were able to have as Leilei and I walked down wearing hotel room slippers. Dan and Leilei were ballsy and explored the gym, determined to get some exercise done before our feast (which did not work out as they came back out 5 minutes later)
So the three of us decided to dine at the Garden Buffet but we wanted to get the most out of it so we went to all the dining places in The Star and asked for takeaway containers. We ended up with two plastic containers from a Chinese takeaway stall and a tub from Messina.
This chicken and sweet corn soup has never disappointed me
Prawns galore - what Asians get to make up for the price they pay
Took all the eggs for this caesar salad LOL
I think we stayed for a bit over two hours and left with 40 food babies
Leilei's laksa - maybe it's because of personal preference but unless you have a lot of coconut cream then the laksa won't taste nice? Either way, after the change of management at The Star, food at the Garden Buffet hasn't been too great.
The sunset was quite pretty.
The morning after, Dan had to go to work so Leilei and I had a cute date
Ate at Nick's cafe which was quite shit (not going to lie). The service and food compared to its seafood restaurant was drastic in difference and the wraps we ordered were just bleh. My chicken was bland and flavourless and I didn't like the spices in Leilei's wrap.
When we first sat down, only the customers of Nick's seafood restaurant were allowed to sit by the harbour and even then, there was no service at all as we had to go up and order, pay, get our own water and even cutlery. And what kind of restaurant only serves ketchup/bbq as their only sauce? (opted for mayo instead as a special request). Expected a bit more as a harbourside restaurant zzz
Then we settled for Gelatissimo as I had an entertainment voucher
One hoe fell down oh no!
After trekking around the Harbourside center (trying to find gifts for our boyfriends) we ended up finding nothing and headed towards QVB instead. Took a stroll around Kinokuniya as Leilei wanted to buy a pop figure for Maurice and we paid a visit to their little art corner a visit and unleashed our Picasso creativity.
Our final artworks
The whole day was spent shopping around all the streets we could find in Town Hall and one of our final visits was Sephora (which I might add was ridiculously expensive and not what they promised it to be). We tested a few things here and there and I ended up really liking a metallic purple nail polish but I couldn't buy it because it was $22. Like what the flying fuck, $22 for nail polish?!
Kura Kura for dinner! It's a shame they changed their menu as I have always loved their fried calamari (the batter is amazeballs) but thank god I found that the Kura Kura in Haymarket still serves this amazing side.
Leilei's soft shell crab
Okonomiyaki to share
Ebi fry and scallop roll because you can never go wrong with fried prawn and grilled scallops.
I think we dnmed at least three times throughout the whole day, something I've missed doing because you realise that once you're out of high school, nothing seems dramatic anymore/you learn to deal and cope with shit yourself so there really isn't much to tell/share with others.
Great day, great food, great company.
