Last Friday, Dan and I decided to head out into the city to have dinner. I don't think we've had a proper dinner for quite some time so this was a highly anticipated night. Had work during the day then met up with Dan and his friend, Mei at Tom n Toms to exchange something from Kathmandu. Being the awkward turtle I was, I was quite reluctant to stay and have a chat (I can't people) but I manned up and we ended up talking about so many things. We also realised how similar in person we are, except for the fact that she's probably 200 times more musically talented than I am. We then parted ways at 5 since Mei had to meet up with her friends so Dan and I wandered to the night markets. Maybe it's a recent change but half the food stalls were replaced with vendors so I couldn't get a few things which I have been wanting ever since my last visit :(
Headed back to my place for a nap and we came back out to have dinner at Eat Love Pizza. This was probably one of the disappointing(?) experiences I've had at ELP - Whenever we used to come with a voucher, we didn't have to book so we didn't think too much about booking. However, upon arrival, we weren't allowed to dine with the Scoopon. This was also mainly our fault because we didn't read the terms and conditions which required a booking, but looking back at the old scoopons, it also required a prior booking but we were allowed to dine anyway. We basically had to buy another "voucher" but this was offered by Dockside - basically provided the same three courses at the same price. I guess it wasn't too bad but it just meant that we kinda bought the other Scoopon for no reason zzz waste of money
Furthermore, (as shown from my countless posts of ELP on this blog) we usually order juice instead of wine/sparkling because all the waitresses offered it as a substitute. However, we weren't allow to do that this time? Definitely did not welcome all these changes but they ended up compromising anyway.
Gamberi (main)
We ordered our usual garlic pizza and bruschetta as our entree and settled with once again, the usual gamberi pizza and fettucine boscaiola for our mains. Service wasn't great to be honest, took them a solid ten minutes to clear our entree plates. You would definitely expect better from a harbourside restaurant like this.
Fettucine boscaiola
Dan and I both decided that it was time for change as there's nothing special about this pasta or the pizza (you can recreate it yourself easily). Hence, we planned to order the Peking Duck pizza and probably another pasta on our next visit using the excess scoopon. Since it was a cream based pasta, finishing this off was quite heavy so definitely go halfsies with a friend - Dan and I usually swap our dishes halfway but even only devouring 50% of the pasta, it still felt quite sickening.
The best panna cotta they've served so far - previous ones were clearly refrigerated too long, incorrect consistencies or just didn't seem like panna cotta at all (more pudding like if anything). I guess that was the highlight of my meal!
Dan's gelato which he didn't finish because we had food triplets happening in our bellies. Seeing that it was quite late, we then trudged our way back to the station (we were literally snails because we wanted to walk it off but it was a short 10 minute walk so we wanted to drag it out as much as possible) and that concluded the night!
