Day 1 and 2 of Japan
27.2.15

After 8 months of waiting, Dan and I left on the 3rd for three weeks of adventuring in Japan!

Twinning at Toys "R" Us

Had a stopover at Kuala Lumpur and with many, many, many hours to kill, we decided to wander around in KLIA2. Since Airasia doesn't provide on board meals, we had a quick meal at Wendy's and it was a rather disappointing one. The people at the register also called us Americans lol. We were actually a little bit hyped about this airport because Xiaxue made it seem quite amazing in her video but in reality, it wasn't great at all. There was a short open  passage from one side of the airport to the other (a less than 10 second walk) and every time we walked out, Dan and I had to hold our breaths because the air was so shit and suffocating. I think at that point in time, we were both extremely grateful for the cleaner air back in Sydney.

Okonomiyaki for lunch!

A day later, we finally arrived in Kansai at 8am and it was quite the messy morning. Finding the JR ticket office was harder than expected and we also had to pick up our SIM cards from the post office. Which was then we realised that Dan lost his backpack/left it downstairs (which contained many monies). He ended up finding it with everything untouched (God bless Japan and their low criminal rates). For lunch, I really wanted to have okonomiyaki because the place I've been to before back in high school was one where you made your own and cooked it yourself (and I have been longing to do that again ever since). Unfortunately they made it for you (luckily for Dan because he wasn't in a DIY mood at all) and we were so scared that the waiters forgot about us as we were extremely paranoid that our "cabbage pancakes" were burnt.

The thing wrapped with plastic was delish (cream puffs for daiz) and Dan kept wanting to eat it on the way home but somehow it made its way back to the hotel as dessert.

After checking in, we decided to explore Ferragamo and as usual we fiddled around with things but left the store empty handed. Things were quite convenient for us since we only lived a few minutes from Osaka Station and there were many department stores around the area. After roaming around one of them, we mini trekked it to the other side where Yodobashi was and did a little bit of adventuring. We also had to pass an alley under the bridge which was lined with tiny stalls and izakaya bars which we both found a little uncomfortable to be around?  I don't remember what we did after but we had a Family Mart run for dinner (most likely because we didn't want to eat in that alleyway) and ended the night there.

Day 2 - Dotonbori

Happy snaps at Starbucks

For breakfast we had another Family Mart run (this becomes a ritual for the next week as we buy fried chicken every single morning) since there was one conveniently placed within our hotel and there were another 2-3 stores close to our place. We wanted a green tea latte and I was also curious if it was any cheaper here in Japan and I guess I was disappointed? I think it was a 20 cent difference and I was hoping for more :(

I think the plan was to explore Dotonbori for the day but we ended up accidentally going to Shinsaibashi, Minami Namba and all these other places as well (since they were basically right next to each other).

"I will take photos of things I won't buy"

In retrospect I wished that I had purchased this Oji-panda pouch (only 300 yen too!)

Then I dragged Dan to take Purikura with me since everyone knows it's so much cheaper here than Capitol Square. As usual the big eyes made everything weirder and Dan stood firm with his reluctance to take Purikura again.

Then we had sushi train for lunch. I guess the overloading with sauce and toppings really is a Korean/western thing because sushi is quite plain in Japan (which made me quite sad). And unless you go to a store which stresses its cheap prices (i.e. 100 yen per plate) then prices are only a bit cheaper than what you would find in Sydney.

Fell in love with this

First world problems - Would totally buy this but Dan and I would probably only eat 4 pieces out of the entire box since we're extremely picky with what kind of sashimi we eat.

.
Visited a Disney Store and why is Tsum Tsum so expensive crey

Being fat with another cream puff for dessert.
